چکیده
Emergent surgery is necessary in patients with strangulation ileus. However, such procedures are associated high morbidity and mortality. A retrospective analysis was performed to determine whether the preoperative C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR); neutrophil/lymphocyte (NLR); prognostic nutritional index (PNI) good indicators of mortality or undergoing emergent operations for treatment 1698 at Tottori Prefectural Central Hospital from 2012 2015. Among them, 45 (2.7%) were preoperatively diagnosed We evaluated clinical importance CAR, NLR, PNI these patients. excluded pediatric this study. Postoperative complications developed 14 (31.1%) The mean postoperative hospital stay among significantly longer than that 31 without (44.0 versus 11.3 days, respectively; P = 0.006). Three died complications. overall operative rates 6.7% 31.1%, respectively. found strong correlations older age, a operation time, an abnormal PNI. Not only inflammation, but also patients' immune status appear be strongly correlated after Patients CAR NLR low must closely monitored occurrence as surgical site infections pulmonary

Prognostic Nutritional Index score is useful to predict post-operative mortality and morbidity in gastric cancer.
Background - The Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) score is based on the level of lymphocytes and albuminemia. The aim of this study was to validate the pre-operative PNI score for predicting post-operative mortality and morbidity of patients operated on for gastric cancer. Methods - This retrospective study collected data from patients operated on for a gastric cancer at the surgical unit B o...
متن کاملPreoperative neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and prognostic nutritional index predict survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer
BACKGROUND The immunological status, consisting of "inflammation status" and "nutritional condition," is important for the survival of patients with various cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) reflects the inflammation status, and the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) reflects the immunological nutritional condition. In the present study...
متن کاملPreoperative predictors of operative morbidity and mortality in COPD patients undergoing bilateral lung volume reduction surgery.
Bilateral volume reduction surgery (VRS) improves lung function for selected patients with emphysema. However, predictors of outcome are not well defined. We reviewed the preoperative characteristics of the first 47 consecutive patients who underwent bilateral VRS at the Massachusetts General Hospital in order to define potential predictors of unacceptable outcome. Preoperative data included sp...
متن کاملPrognostic value of the c-reactive protein/prognostic nutritional index ratio after hip fracture surgery in the elderly population
BACKGROUND More and more older patients receive the surgery after hip fracture. However, the mortality rate is high. Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is associated with prognosis in hip fracture patients. In the current study, we proposed a novel prognostic score, named c-reactive protein/PNI ratio (CRP/PNI ratio), for predicting the prognosis for geriatric orthopedic population. METHODS Th...
متن کاملPrognostic significance of preoperative C-reactive protein: albumin ratio in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
We undertook a retrospective analysis to evaluate the C-reactive protein/albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio for its prognostic value in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC). The study comprised 406 CCRCC patients undergoing nephrectomy between 2003 and 2012 in our hospital. The correlations among the pretreatment CRP/Alb ratio, clinicopathological parameters, and overall survival (OS) wer...
